Lazarus was found as a juvenile in the autumn of 2020 emaciated and in poor feather condition. It appeared the bird never developed the hunting skills necessary to support itself after leaving the care of its parents. Lazarus spent time with a falconer that winter who confirmed the bird could not hunt successfully on its own. To remain healthy Lazarus needs the support provided under professional human care.
